Congratulations our 2019-2020 ABWHE Textbook Scholarship recipient, RoKami Taylor-Gillette!
RoKami is a Teaching and Learning PhD candidate at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC. She balances her studies with being a wife and mother. “…This scholarship will help me continue my pursuits to help uplift and make a difference with how marginalized groups are treated and educated in the public- school systems in the United States. After completing my doctoral studies I plan to continue in the footsteps of phenomenal scholars such as Geneva Gay, Gloria Ladson-Billings, and Geneva Smitherman by ensuring that the students I educate will be exposed to culturally relevant and sustaining pedagogies…”
